At what age do boys and girls stop growing (1)

The growth is a process of utmost importance to humans because the body transforms completely until a fixed point which will remain for much of our lives. Puberty is perhaps the most significant and longest period of all . That moment in which boys and girls experience many changes in their anatomy, most of them confusing and uncomfortable. A physical development that can last from two to five years.

However, not everyone goes through this time at the same time, each individual grows at a different rate, influenced by various factors such as age, sex or genetics . For example, girls begin and end puberty much earlier than boys, and reach adulthood at 14 or 15 years old.  What other elements influence the growth of the little ones?

Until what age do children grow up during puberty?

As we already know, puberty is the transition from childhood to adulthood. Girls enter it from the age of 10, until they reach 16. During this period, they experience an acceleration in their growth, stimulating hormones and entering menstruation. By the time this trance begins, the girls reach their final height in a maximum of two years.

In the case of boys, they rush the last stage of growth between the ages of 8 and 14. However, generally speaking, most boys stop growing at age 16, developing fully at age 18. This phase usually progresses by force during the first two years after the onset of puberty.

Factors influencing growth

Each individual will face these changes in a different way , although there are many factors that influence their correct development:

  • Nutrition : Children who do not eat properly are shorter and smaller than the rest . Proper nutrition will allow children to reach their adult height without further hindrance.
  • Genetics : The little one’s genes play a fundamental role in growth. Like the diagnosis of certain diseases such as Noonan syndrome, Down syndrome or Marfan syndrome.
  • Hormonal imbalances : A low thyroid level can lead to a slower growth rate and reduced adult height.
  • Drug use : Medications for chronic illnesses, such as asthma, can also affect children’s height.
