How this is worked out
UK sizes step by a barleycorn (⅓ inch, 8.47 mm). We place UK 3 at a 22.5 cm foot and step from there. US women's = UK + 2, US men's = UK + 1. EU sizes are Paris points (⅔ cm), which is why they do not line up neatly with UK halves.
